01

Responsible entity and policy scope

This Privacy Policy applies to Stratafold Aotearoa, package nz.org.earthbuilding.stratafold, an offline educational app presented for Earth Building Association of New Zealand Incorporated. It explains the app's own processing. It does not describe the independent practices of Google Play, Android, a browser, a linked standards publisher, a government website, a device manufacturer, an email provider or any other external service. The registry address supplied for the responsible entity is The Quarry, Selwyn Avenue, Whangarei 0110, New Zealand.

02

Audience and educational purpose

The app is a general adult learning aid for observing natural-material concepts, preparing bounded questions and locating authoritative sources. It is not a construction manual, engineering service, inspection tool, consent service, project record, contractor directory, emergency service or official digital version of an NZ Standard. It does not determine structural adequacy, material suitability, compliance, defect cause, repair, health risk or professional competence.

03

Information the app does not collect

The app does not collect a name, email address, phone number, account identifier, advertising identifier, precise or approximate location, IP address, contact list, photograph, video, audio, file, free-text note, measurement, property address, consent record, client record, health information, financial information or device fingerprint. It has no registration, login, account, server, backend, cloud database or remote content service.

04

Local state stored on the device

The app may store only a small set of non-personal app-private preferences: fixed lens numbers added to the Question Stack, the last opened stratum, whether an introductory note has been seen and a local display preference. These values are generated inside the app, remain in its private storage and are not intended to identify a person, building, site, client, project or organization member.

05

Purpose and basis for local processing

Local state is used only to restore the user's selected fixed educational lenses and basic interface position. Processing occurs at the user's request to provide these offline functions. The app does not combine local state with another dataset, create a profile, infer interests, make eligibility decisions, score behaviour, personalise advertising or measure engagement for the publisher.

06

Android permissions and device access

The release requests no Internet permission and no dangerous or runtime Android permission. It does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, notifications, calendar, health, activity recognition, Bluetooth, nearby devices, phone, SMS, storage or media access. Optional source links are handed to an external browser chosen by the user; the app does not download the destination itself.

07

No free text, media, measurements or project records

The app provides only publisher-authored content and fixed choices. It does not accept typed notes, photographs, audio, scans, drawings, dimensions, test results, coordinates, addresses, names or uploads. Do not try to use fixed lens selections as an inspection, maintenance, consent, safety, client or property record. Any required project record should be created and protected in the system authorised by the responsible project party.

08

Children and family safety

The app is written for a general adult education context and is not directed to children. It has no social features, chat, public profiles, user search, follower system, contests, purchases, targeted advertising or child account. Adults supervising a young person should control any external browser use and should never encourage entry to a work site or contact with a building material through this app.

09

Sensitive, health and property information

The app does not request or store health symptoms, disability information, ethnicity, beliefs, identity documents, precise location, household information, property condition, building defects, ownership, tenancy, client details or professional case information. General references to mould-like growth, safety or indoor conditions are boundaries for seeking qualified advice, not invitations to disclose sensitive information or health claims.

10

Optional external browser actions

A user may choose to open an authoritative source in another app. The destination, browser, operating system and network provider may process data under their own terms and privacy notices. Stratafold Aotearoa does not control that processing, receive the browsing result or know whether a link was opened. Review the destination address and its policies before continuing.

11

No advertising, analytics, trackers or third-party SDKs

The app contains no advertising, AdMob, analytics, attribution, crash-reporting service, telemetry, remote configuration, social SDK, embedded web page, subscription, in-app purchase, payment processor or tracking pixel. It does not use an advertising identifier and does not sell attention or measure a person for marketing. Standard operating-system and store functions remain governed by their providers.

12

Sharing, sale and disclosure

Because the app does not collect or transmit user data, it does not share or sell user data to the responsible entity, service providers, advertisers, data brokers or other organizations. The app has no remote disclosure channel. Information a user independently gives to a browser destination, email provider, project professional or authority is outside the app and should be handled under that recipient's process.

13

Retention

Fixed lens selections and interface preferences remain only in app-private storage until the user clears local choices, clears app storage or uninstalls the app. The app does not set a server retention period because it has no server copy. Android or device-level remnants outside the app's control may be governed by the platform, although app backup and device transfer are disabled for this release.

14

Clear local choices and account deletion

The Privacy Centre includes a Clear Local Choices control that removes the Question Stack and saved interface preferences. Android Settings can also clear app storage, and uninstalling removes the app's private data subject to operating-system behaviour. Account deletion is not applicable because the app creates no account. No email request is needed to erase a server record because no server record exists.

15

Backup and device transfer

Android backup and device-to-device transfer are disabled in the release manifest and data-extraction rules. This is intended to keep local app choices on the current installation. Platform behaviour can change outside the app, so users should still avoid treating any device as a secure repository for project or personal information. The app provides no export or cloud-sync function.

16

Security

The app minimises risk by collecting no personal data, requesting no Internet or dangerous permission, using app-private storage, disabling backup and providing deletion controls. No software or device can be guaranteed absolutely secure. Users should keep Android and the app current, use device access controls and avoid installing modified packages from untrusted sources. Report a suspected app security issue through the privacy contact below.

17

Construction, safety and source limitations

Generated illustrations and original text are educational and are not photographs of verified EBANZ projects, technical drawings, standards content, approved details or evidence about a real building. Do not enter, touch, drill, scrape, sample, wet, repair or test a building because of this app. For movement, falling material, active water, fire, electrical or service risk, severe weather, earthquake damage or unsafe access, keep clear and follow emergency, site-controller and qualified-professional directions. Verify every source's current edition and project scope at its publisher.

18

Policy changes, questions and privacy contact

A future app release may update this policy if functionality or legal requirements change. The effective date and policy version will be revised, and material changes will be presented with the updated release. Privacy questions about the app may be sent to chair@earthbuilding.org.nz, the public chair contact shown on the organization's official website, or by using the current contact page at https://earthbuilding.org.nz/. Confirm the recipient and avoid including sensitive, health, client or property information in an ordinary email.
